When we think about fashion, we usually think of designers like Calvin Klein or Versace. Their clothes are worn by models, movie stars and princesses. But not everyone likes to wear these expensive clothes. Many young people choose clothes that show what kind of music they listen to, or what hobbies they have. A good example of this is surf style.

 

Mark is a surfer from America. He lives by the beach in California and goes surfing every day. Mark spends a lot of time at the beach, and all his friends are surfers. 'I don't think about fashion much,' says Mark, 'but people know I am a surfer because of the way I look.' He usually wears casual clothes like T-shirts and board shorts - long shorts designed for surfing. He also likes loose Hawaiian shirts with colorful patterns. His clothes are usually untidy. Like many surfers, Mark doesn't like wearing smart clothes. 'Surf style is just very comfortable,' he says. 'When you spend a lot of time at the beach, you don't want to put on a shirt and tie!'

 

When Mark comes out of the water his hair is wet and untidy, and he has a suntanned face. His favorite clothes are a pair of green board shorts and an old Hawaiian shirt. on the beach there are hundreds of surfers dressed like Mark. Sometimes it's difficult to tell them apart! (233 words)
