Read the paragraph below.

The Great Depression was one of the most difficult times in american history. It occurred from 1929 to 1941 and began with a stock market collapse in 1929. Businesses stopped producing goods because they thought no one would buy them. They started firing workers, and soon no one could afford to buy things. People began to take all their money out of banks, and then the banks began to fail. What made the Great Depression even worse was a drought that hit the central part of the United States. It caused crops to fail so there was less food, and then the people who worked on farms didn't have work either.

Answer the question.

1. Which of these is not answered in the paragraph?

A. How the Great Depression started

B. How the Great Depression ended

C. How long the Great Depression lasted

D. What happened to workers in the Great Depression

How to find the answer:

Begin by looking at the question and the answer choices carefully. The question can be a little confusing because the word not is in the question. In other words, you are supposed to find the answer that is not mentioned in the paragraph.

* The paragraph says the Great Depression started in 1929. Answer A can't be right.

* Nothing in the paragraph talks about the end of the Great Depression. Answer B might be right, but you still have to look at the others.

* The paragraph says the Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1941. Answer C isn't correct.

* Answer D can't be correct either because the paragraph talks about how workers were fired and didn't have work.

The correct answer is B because the paragraph doesn't talk about how the Great Depression ended. When you work carefully, it's easy to find the answer.
