로퍼영문법

 

부정사를 취하는 동사

 

** 동사 바로 뒤에 부정사가 오는 경우, 아래 그룹A 참조

** 부정형은 to 바로 앞에 not이 옴.

 

 

(a) I hope to see you again soon.

(b) He promised to be here by ten.

(c) He promised not to be late.

 

** 동사와 부정사 사이에 대명사가 오는 경우, 아래 그룹B 참조

 

(d) Mr Lee told me to be here at ten o'clock.(수동태: I was told to be here at ten o'clock.)

(e) The police ordered the driver to stop.(수동태: The driver was ordered to stop.)

 

** ask, expect would like, want, need는 바로 뒤에 대명사가 오는 경우도 있고, 오지 않을 수도 있다.

 

(h) I expect to pass the test.(= I think I will pass the test.)

(i) I expect Mary to pass the test.(= I think Mary will pass the test.)

** intend는 대체로 부정사(I intend to go to the meeting)를 취하지만, 가끔은 동명사(I intend going to the meeting)를 취하기도 한다. 의미상의 차이는 없다.

 

** advise는 동명사(He advised buying a Fiat)를 취하면 능동의 의미, 부정사(He advised me to but a Fiat)를 취하면 수동의 의미를 나타낸다.
