Being a model can be a very exciting job. A famous model can earn a lot of money and travel to many interesting places all over the world. The most famous models are women like Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. These women are so successful that they even have a special name. They are called 'supermodels'.
But what about the men? These days, there are only a few successful male models. one of them is Travis Fimmel. Travis grew up on a farm in Australia. He was discovered by a model agent when he was exercising in a gym in Melbourne in 1998. He worked for a few years in Melbourne and London, and then moved to Los Angeles. There, Travis quickly became popular because of his good looks and his charm. He appeared in many TV commercials, as well as music videos with Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson. Finally, he became Calvin Klein's face of 2002, the top job for male models.
However, Travis probably won't be as successful as the top female models. A popular female model can earn US$35,000 for just one day's work. Top male models earn about US$7,000 a day, and they have much shorter careers. Travis knows that in two years perhaps nobody will remember him.
