2. Give a context.[문맥화 하라]
It is usually quite ineffective to simply let students try and work out meaning from context.[대체로 학생들에게 단순히 문맥 관계에서 어떤 의미를 알아내라고 하는 것은 매우 비효율적이다.]
But seeing or hearing words in context will help them remember.[하지만 문맥에서 단어를 보고 듣는 것은 그들이 기억하는데 도움을 준다.]
So for example you can pick out words from a reading text and get them to look them up in a dictionary and make their own sentences using these words.[가령 예를 들면, 읽는 교재에서 단어들을 선정하여 사전에서 찾아보고 이런 단어들을 그들 자신의 문장을 만들게 해본다.]
3. Repetition repetition repetition![반복, 반복, 반복만이 최고!]
If you see or hear a word once, will you remember it?[여러분이 어떤 단어를 한번만 보고 들어도, 그걸 기억할수 있나?]
It isn’t likely is it?[그건 거의 불가능할 것이다.]
Use the words more than once and present them in different ways.[단어를 한 번 이상 사용하여 여러 번 표현하여라.]
Students have different learning styles – some will remember from reading a word, others will remember from hearing it.[학생들은 각자의 학습 유형을 갖고 있다. 어떤 학생은 읽으면서 기억하고, 또 다른 학생들은 들으면서 기억한다.]
Others will need to use it to remember the word.[또 다른 학생은 단어를 기억하기 위하여 읽기도 하고 듣기도 한다.]
So try and give them plenty of opportunity to read or hear the words.[그러니까, 학생들이 단어를 읽고 들을 수 있도록 되도록 많은 기회를 갖도록 하라.]
